idk for most stuff this opnsense vs pfsense is like fedora vs rocky. For the majority of cases they are the same, for some cases one is slightly better, but it doesn't make any of them better overall. i used both, both are basically the same for an average user. PPPoE was a bit worse on pfsense ( still way better than on microtik), now im on opnsense mainly because gui is more intuitive for me.

I have installed a centrifugal ups, those are cool. This one was for power cleaning. They had issues with power spikes and surges. The flywheel had a 4min spin time for power.

Why not make a recommendation for building a custom 1U server with Linux, talking about what components to use for maximum reliability, with a how-to install PF-Sense in a server envirionment. If you don't have any incentive to promote or support NetGate, or are not worried about them seeing such a video, I'm sure lots of NEs would appreciate that video.

It is not clear to me if I use a non synology camera, on a Synology NVR such as the DVA 1622 that has a 1 face recognition task limitation, am I adding capability to the DVA1622 system? Or if I already have face recognition let's say on a Reolink Video Doorbell and add this camera with AI advanced detection, will the DVA "say STOP" task limit reached?

Does its capabilities add to the Deep Learning Synology NVRs? Or don't? If I have a DVA1622 and already using face recognition task on a Reolink Doorbell, if I add the BC500 will the DVA1622 be then adding to the DVA1622 or will I be still hit the constraint of one face recognition at a time on one camera?

Why is it not possible to define static leases WITHIN a DHCP range in OPNsense? Like, I don't understand, even the Windows DHCP Server does this and so do literally ALL other dhcpservices I know of.

Quick question: Last time I switched router and came across the UDM Pro four years ago I went for and OPNsense box because of the UDM phoning home with no way of disabling it. Is Ubiquiti still not giving customers the ability to opt out of *all* their data collection or are the devices still phoning home? I like the UDM Pro Max because of it’s 5Gbit IPS and consider buying one but a router phoning home is a big No from me.

Outgoing vIP set to up on local network local-ip/32 and make sure it's static locally. You can do /31 /30 /29 if you want to route more then 1 or add each as /32 from memory. I have a PFSense as a VM in XCP-NG with about 30-40 Public IPs routing in the DC

For the domain issue with self signed certs, i've been having luck with a domain name registered that i use only for internal services behind a caddy reverse proxy using porkbun api for verification and pihole to help route the internal traffic.

What I don't like about Immich is it doesn't seem to be made to point at an existing folder of photos and be a front end for that the way Jellyfin works. It's built around uploading photos directly to it.

how about OPENVPN behind CGNAT ... this did not work for me ... I did not have the possibility to open any port . I have a TP-link MR6400 with orange SIM Card ... My Router comes with OPEN VPN by default . I tried to set it up but because no ports no connection ( also added no-ip dynamic ddns ) ... What is a real solution for me to enter my home network in a secure way ? i kept looking at a lot of videos with Headscale / Tailscale / Cloudflare etc.

My dudes, a firewall that is secure, please. No one needs FOSS tools from snakes.

Okay, I had a misunderstanding of replication. When a task is completed the files are written to the other pools and appear in a filesystem the same way they are on the source end so you can interact with them. I thought replication stored it in a way where the data wasn't accessible unless recovered. I'll be using this for sure! I have two TrueNAS scale systems one at my house, one at my parents, both running Plex. Would like to back up there to their Plex library so they can also view the movies I add and it seems like this would be a good solution. Does that sound about right?

Great and complete explanation on everything that goes on in a data center. I have to gripe about the person recording the video though. They stayed keyed on the presenter and rarely showed the equipment the presenter was talking about. Unless that was a request of the presenter for privacy reasons, that was a miss to make this a truly great video.
